This article brings the novella into dialogue with biopolitical philosophy, queer theory and posthumanism in order to conceptualise the multivalent implications of the text's trans‐species reflections and crossings. My analysis moves beyond existing interpretations of the novella as a mournful account of the HIV/AIDS pandemic or as a text that documents violence more broadly, by calling attention to the more affirmative potentialities that are also latent in Bellatin's aesthetics of impersonality. date: 2017-06-09 date_type: published publisher: WILEY official_url: https://doi.org/10.1111/blar.12670 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green article_type_text: Article verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1588928 doi: 10.1111/blar.12670 lyricists_name: Bollington, Lucy lyricists_id: LBOLL51 actors_name: Bollington, Lucy actors_id: LBOLL51 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: Bulletin of Latin American Research volume: 37 number: 4 pagerange: 479-492 pages: 14 issn: 1470-9856 citation: Bollington, L; (2017) Animality, Sexuality and the Politics of Death in Mario Bellatin's Salon de belleza.
