Multi-disciplinary frameworks for reading economic systems as integral to the design and lived experience of the public realm have shaped our conceptualisation of the financial crisis as a city design problem. The following images and narrative offer a socio-spatial and political analysis of the City of London as a ‘business as usual’ city in which private interests trump public good. Through a design-based proposal for policy intervention and physical restructuring that radically alters the City's socio-spatial realities, we re-imagine the City of London as a true public city for the 21st century, where ‘productivity’ stems from the residential diversity, urban intensity and inclusive public spaces produced by significantly increasing the number of people living in the City. date: 2014 date_type: published publisher: Informa UK Limited official_url: https://doi.org/10.1080/13604813.2014.896652 oa_status: green full_text_type: other language: eng primo: open primo_central: open_green verified: verified_manual elements_id: 1799787 doi: 10.1080/13604813.2014.896652 lyricists_name: Palominos Ortega, Nicolas lyricists_id: NAPAL61 actors_name: Allington-Smith, Dominic actors_id: DAALL44 actors_role: owner full_text_status: public publication: City volume: 18 number: 2 pagerange: 191-213 citation: Trangoš, G; Adleson, I; Palominos, N; Valdez Young, A; Alshalfan, S; (2014) Reordered publics: Re-imagining the City of London.
