Title: | Living and Learning in Chatrooms |
Language: | English |
Additional information: | This article presents an original piece of research which uses an innovative approach to researching online chat. The methodology involved collecting interactions in a cybercafe for children ages 3 – 13, and included recording the offline interactions between friends who were also interacting online. Research on chatrooms has rarely included simultaneous online and offline interactions, and has not considered children’s interactions in cyberspace in this context. The article used theories of learning and play to apply a rigorous and original analysis of online chat. The article is published in an international refereed journal.
