Additional information:	This article (sole authored) is one of the first to describe and debate the value of the Fast Track scheme. It does so by drawing from the experience of the Institute of Education, University of London, one of the group of 10 universities which were participants since the pilot year. The article is primarily of general interest but since this Journal is focused on the subject of Geography the case studies and interviews on which some findings are predicated are primarily related to geography trainees on the PGCE course. However the article is of interest to anyone keen to find out more about Fast Track, both as it developed and as it exists today. The draft was refereed by two Lecturers in Initial Teacher Education within the UK, one a sceptic about the Fast Track scheme. This document has been closed because the permission of the publisher has not been verified.
