Title: | Musical 'learning styles' and 'learning strategies' in the instrumental lesson : some emergent findings from a pilot study |
Open access status: | An open access version is available from UCL Discovery |
Language: | English |
Additional information: | This empirical observational research-and-development pedagogy project which lead to a new conceptualisation of 'learning style' and 'learning strategy' in musical aural learning activities. As yet there is no literature identifying any differences between potential different musical learning styles. The research findings provide grounds for distinguishing music-learning styles in a range of distinct ways. Four particular ways were identified as: 'impulsive', 'shot-in-the-dark', 'applied strategic' and 'theoretical'. Some implications for the music-education research community are outlined.
