Abstract
This paper is an invited contribution to an international special issue on lifestyles research, published in Kölner Zeitschrift für Soziologie und Sozialpsychologie, which is the leading German sociology journal. The paper reviews the international literature on the intergenerational transmission of lifestyles, and suggests an agenda for future research in this area. This paper was prepared during an ESRC secondment to the Department of Culture Media and Sport. The paper addresses the question of gaps in the research evidence for answering policy-relevent questions, and how this could be addressed through incorporating these concerns into large-scale longitudinal datasets. Special issue on ‘Lebensstilforschung’ [lifestyles research]
