Abstract
Assesses: whether a multimodal transport document for goods partly carried by sea can have the same evidentiary effect as a "bill of lading", focusing on: the apparent authority of the carrier's agent to issue such a document for goods that have not been received; carriers' potential liabilities regarding commingled or blended cargoes; RETLA clauses; and whether a carrier should issue a claused bill of lading for minor defects to a cargo.
