Abstract

We report on a recent development in the dynamics of expanding compressible gases governed by the Euler and the gravitational Euler-Poisson system in the vacuum free boundary framework. We discuss expanding affine solutions that exist globally-in-time. And we explain the methodology of the global existence of expanding smooth non-affine solutions to the Euler system for 1 < γ ≤ 5/3 and the Euler-Poisson system for γ = 4/3.
