Abstract
Five timbers from the primary cruck range of what is thought to have been originally built as a four-bay hall house were dated. One of these timbers was derived from a tree found to have been felled in the winter AD of 1480/81, the other four dated timbers having felling date ranges consistent with this date, suggesting construction in AD 1481, or within one or two years after this date. Five timbers from the truss range yielded a likely felling date range of AD 1632–62, supporting a mid seventeenth-century date for the construction of this range, which also included two V-struts made from what appear to be re-used timbers felled around a century earlier in AD 1541–71.
