Abstract

There has been much attention in recent years to the diversity of further education (FE) board members. There has been less attention paid to what people within the sector understand by diversity. In recognition of this, the Association of Colleges (AoC) and the Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL) commissioned the Institute for Volunteering Research (IVR) to conduct a study to explore attitudes towards diversity and representation among governors and clerks and to consider how this might influence recruitment and retention. This bulletin summarises the main findings of that research.
