Abstract

Despite recent technological advances in the field of water treatment, SSF remains one of the most efficient unit filtration processes for improving the physical, biological and chemical quality of water. SSF is a ‘clean’ technology due to the fact that it requires less energy and no pre-treatment chemicals and it has minimal sludge generation. This technology has been used for decades and will continue to be appropriate for the rest of this century and beyond.
