Abstract
Metal was mutable, purposeful and poetic in the hands and imagination of Jean Prouvé (8 April 1901 – 23 March 1984). Much remains to be learnt from this pioneer of the use of aluminium to assemble architecture. Pavilions are test beds for ideas for future architecture and new (or newer) technologies and techniques, which often cross over into mainstream contemporary architecture and infrastructure in a very short timescale.
