Abstract
Over the past decade the requirement to regenerate London and many of London's town centres has come to the forefront of planning. Much debate and controversy surrounds the extent to which a single transport scheme can catalyse private development to aid regeneration. Improving London's Transport system is vital to the sustainability of the capitals economy and viability of the current growth patterns. Cross River Partnership (CRP) and Transport for London (TfL) propose Cross River Tram (CRT) as one of a number of transport proposals that will alleviate overcrowding, increase capacity of the current network and aid regeneration. CRT is planned to link both Peckham and Brixton through to central London and Camden by 2016 (TfL, 2007). The alignment will pass through four Borough Councils (Camden, Lambeth, Southwark and Westminster) and also affect the City of London.
