Abstract

We introduce a new drift model for slow environmental perturbation affecting modal mixture and walk-off. Mode coupling strength asymmetries between mode pairs of different mode groups are preserved while transmission matrix is decorrelated. Large impact on channel equalization performance is observed for an SVD-MIMO system.
