Abstract
This chapter introduces the topic of climate change and the approach taken in the book to analyse it. To stop climate change, emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) will have to be reduced effectively to zero, and large quantities of GHGs will have to be removed from the atmosphere. How this can be done is then explored in subsequent chapters, the main topics of each of which are briefly introduced here.
