Abstract

The paper explores work of the German artist Adolf Luther, a member of the ZERO group. Luther's spatial and instrumental conceptions of light, glass, lenses, and mirrors are used to illustrate the productive relationship between the material and the immaterial, revealing a paradigmatic shift in understanding space as a dynamic force-field.
