Abstract

We read with great interest the review article by Taru and colleagues, focusing on the role of inflammasomes in chronic liver disease.1 The authors have produced a thorough outline of inflammasome biology as well as an overview of potential therapeutic strategies in liver disease. We would like to contribute additional perspectives regarding pyroptosis-directed therapies in decompensated cirrhosis and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF).
