Abstract

The AI competency framework for teachers presents the first ever global vision of how AI competencies can be defined and developed for the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence in teaching, learning and assessment. The framework provides a blueprint on what concrete AI ethical principles, knowledge and skills should be covered and how domain-specific methodologies can be leveraged when developing teacher training programmes. It emphasizes that preparing teachers’ AI competencies is a requirement for the effective use of AI in education and must be based on principles of inclusivity, the centrality of human agency, non-discrimination, and respect for linguistic and cultural diversity.
