Abstract
Self and peer assessments are valuable tools for developing responsible, critical, and reflective professionals. Studies have shown that they can be more effective than traditional lecturer evaluations, especially when anonymity is ensured through online platforms. In this study, we compared self and peer assessments with lecturer evaluations in a second-year Manufacturing & Design course at the University College London, UK. We found strong agreement between peer assessments and lecturer evaluations, and moderate agreement between self-assessments and lecturer evaluations. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of peer assessment as a reliable and valid evaluation method.
