Abstract
Innovation is needed to achieve the ambitious global health targets that the world has committed to in the Sustainable Development Goals as part of the United Nations’ Agenda 2030. Yet, innovation for global health remains lacking in diversity, particularly in regard to the inclusion of women. Women are marginalized in health leadership and, as a result, are often excluded from the design and benefits of innovation. Women's health issues are particularly neglected in the field of innovation. Using examples related to diagnostics and medical personal protective equipment (PPE), this chapter makes a case for inclusive, diverse innovation, including a call to action to create an enabling environment based on gender transformative leadership where innovation for women can thrive.
