Abstract

Antimicrobial stewardship is a critical activity that needs to take place to combat antimicrobial resistance. The multidisciplinary stewardship team is introduced to AMR stewardship by the in-house training programme carried out in hospitals. A review of curriculum was carried out to determine whether education in India was providing the much-needed orientation and skill training to carry out this work in hospitals. However, the well defined AMR stewardship programme that was structured and put in place in most tertiary care hospitals crumbled during the pandemic due to a wide array of factors. This chapter reviews the training in educational institutions on stewardship for the various members of the AMR stewardship team. It also takes into consideration the changes that needs to be provided to build capacity of human resources who will eventually in their career form part of the stewardship team.
